Meetup #28. Twenty-eight months in a row.
Kris Krüg opens Vancouver AI April 2026 by welcoming his parents from Sacramento — they flew in for the second time because "everyone was so friendly." Plus guests from Tokyo, Seattle, and Victoria.
Then Vanessa Gonzalez of Squamish Nation shares a creation legend about the Mask people. A big brother, a sea lion carved from a stump, a little brother who loved to dance too much. She, her daughter Michaela, and partner Garrett perform a Unity Song.
Kris reflects on what reconciliation means to him — not as a gesture, but as ongoing relationship built over years. Vancouver AI gives complimentary tickets to Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam Nations. Vanessa and Garrett have been part of the community since Tribal Journeys 2014.
